Welcome to Stevie's Artisans
Stevies Artisans Urban Folk Art is a curated collection of museum quality handcrafts and wearable art made by artisans and fine artists. Stevies Artisans comprises a group of four artists with an eclectic collection of goods that includes hand painted silk-screened apparel, fused glass art, sculpted lace earrings and pendants, and traditionally crafted quilts with distinctly contemporary designs. These artisans live and create in Long Island, NY, Portland, Oregon, Berlin, Germany, and NYC.
I call their work "Urban Folk Art” because these artisans create from a hip, urban perspective. Their statements are often bold and "edgy" and they always create with artistry and fine craftsmanship. All the Stevies Artisans share the common attribute/identity of what it is to be an artisan:
Artisan: (noun) An artisan can be described as a skilled or self taught craftsperson producing original art in limited quantities, often using traditional methods that may reflect their culture.
